Event security guidelines

The Australian Government physical security management guidelines—Event security assist Australian Government agencies to apply a consistent approach to protective security measures when protecting the people attending a planned event and the information and physical assets needed for the event.

Agencies should also use these guidelines to the extent possible for any unplanned events.
These guidelines cover:

  • actions prior to the event, including:
    • undertaking a risk assessment
    • developing an event security plan
    • assigning security roles
  • implementing security measures during the event
  • post-event actions.

These guidelines also outline the Australian Government event levels used to determine who has overall responsibility for an event.
